When late summer and early autumn bring misty mornings. When August and September evenings grow dark so early that starry nights with moonlight over the lake are once again an experience, we invite you to join us for crayfish fishing and a crayfish party in true manor house style.
Friday evening crayfish fishing, cozying up on the dock, and swimming at dusk
Put on your boots or other sturdy shoes and a warm sweater when you check in on Friday afternoon. If you've forgotten the right crayfish fishing gear, we'll do our best to provide it for you on site.
Head down to the lake, just 200 meters from the manor park, and help us empty the crayfish traps while we treat you to a cup of coffee or tea. Become part of a rowing team that sets out the traps along the shore towards Evabadet and Kvavhult or around Bockö and in the strait between Bockö and Paradiset (a small, beautiful headland with a cottage on the other side of the island).
When you return, enjoy a cozy get-together with sauna and refreshments before dinner is served in the restaurant. For those who wish, an evening walk down to the lake with a sauna in the lake cottage and a swim at dusk is a peaceful way to end the day.
Early Saturday morning – the night's catch awaits
Sneak down to the lake early on Saturday morning withthesamerowing team. Freshly brewed coffee made the old-fashioned way over an open fire or a cup of tea awaits on the jetty. Row out onto the lake in the mist whilethe sun gently peeks through the fog in the east, and the excitement builds as cage after cage is pulled up to reveal the night's catch.
Bring your precious catch to the manor house kitchen, where Saturday evening's crayfish party is being prepared, with boiled crayfish and various delicious dishes that are part of a proper Småland crayfish party.
A Saturday filled with activities and nature experiences
Feel free to try padel tennis, mini golf, boules, tennis, or any of our other activities in the manor park and down by the lake. All activities are free for our guests.
Whether you just want to enjoy a walk along the beach, a rowboat trip around Bockö, or a slightly longer hike or bike ride around Gissen, to Gisseskalle, or to Torngölen, you will return home with memorable experiences of nature.
Saturday evening crayfish party
As evening creeps in, it's time for the reward – enjoying the freshly caught delicacies together with the kitchen's well-composed accompaniments.
According to old Swedish tradition, atmospheric and traditional songs are sung at the table. Colorful crayfish hats and streamers add to the cozy atmosphere around the table, and songbooks help everyone join in and lift the mood a little extra.
As the evening draws to a close, a quiet walk down to the lake for a dip in the lake sauna on the jetty and a quick swim is a memorable end to Saturday evening's crayfish party.

Accommodation of varying sizes and character
The manor house has five cozy rooms, carefully renovated and offering extra comfort, including three double rooms and two mini suites. For those who wish, there are also two larger suites in the same style, with a small, pleasant kitchen area.
The hotel section has 40 double rooms, 20 of which have views of the golf course and Lake Gissen, and 10 superior double rooms with views of the manor park and the lake.
In late autumn, when the leaves have fallen, the lake can be seen between the trees, but when the trees come back into leaf in spring, the foliage obscures the lake from most of the rooms.
Several rooms in both the manor house and the hotel section can be booked as family rooms. Some rooms in the hotel section have a connecting door to the adjacent room and are therefore ideal for families who want more space and two bathrooms. Read more about our accommodation options.
Frequently asked questions and other information
- Activities. Allour activitiesin the manor park and down by the lake (without any special arrangements on our part) are free for our guests, such as mini golf, boules, padel, tennis, and disc golf, as well as the use of bicycles,rowboats, and canoes.
- Swimming and sauna. LakeGissen, with jetties, rafts to swim to, and shallow sandy beaches, is only about 200 meters from the manor park (the hotel does not have a pool). The sauna in Sjöstugan is always heated between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m.
- Wood-fired hot tub. Right next to Sjöstugan and the jetty, you can enjoy a warming autumn, winter, or spring dip in our wood-fired hot tub. In winter, an ice-cold dip from the jetty is an experience in combination with a sauna and a warming hot tub.
- Check-in and check-out. Check-infrom 3 p.m. Check-out by 11 a.m. Late check-out is possible subject to availability.
